Apparently, now it is OK for Google to be Evil.
See reporting here: Google Removes ‘Don’t Be Evil’ Clause From Its Code of Conduct
Google says they are now committed to “doing the ‘right thing,’ which, presumably, gives them an out if a case can be made that the “right thing” to do is to be evil.
Please annotate the following questions with thoughts and supporting evidence.
- If you are inside Google, have you noticed a change?
- What things might Google want to do that might be considered evil and yet still “the right thing?”
- Has the Wikipedia entry on “Don’t be Evil” been updated to incorporate this change? (If not, can someone do that?)
- Will Google be updating their S-1 Prospectus filed with the S. E. C. to reflect this change in mission? In the meantime, is there someone out there who can annotate the existing prospectus to reflect this change?
- What other things are we failing to see about Google’s change in rhetoric?
